Description

Located within the Ayala Triangle is the old Nielson Tower, the country’s first commercial airport inaugurated on July 1937. It became the base of the American Far Eastern School of Aviation headed by Laurie Reuben Nielson, a New Zealander who was attracted by the business opportunities in the Philippines in the mid-1930s. After a decade of service the airport ceased its operation in 1948 and ownership of the airport was transferred to the owner of the land.
The tower, a two-story concrete structure wittily designed to resemble an airplane from a bird’s-eye view, became a police detachment, a private office and a restaurant before being known as the Filipinas Heritage Library.
Under the Ayala Land management, the Nelson Tower was converted into a library in 1996 with a rich collection of rare Filipiniana books acquired from the Ayala Museum; it also houses three venues for an intimate wedding venue.
The Tower Room is the old control room of the airport and can comfortably accommodate 16 people. It is fully air-conditioned and is perfect for meetings and presentations and has a beautiful view of Makati’s skyline. The Reading Room is a function hall on the building’s main floor which can accommodate up to 120 guests. It is perfect for intimate celebrations secluded from the outside noise and is fully air-conditioned. For couples who love the outdoor, they can experience a breath of fresh air in the Courtyard, an open area venue at the back of the library which offers a magnificent view of Makati’s skyline and its adjacent park. It offers couples a simple yet elegant venue to mark their vows down the annals of history.
Celebrate your union in an intimate haven in Makati with your close relatives and friends as the Filipinas Heritage Library opens its doors to the public with venues perfect for your dream wedding.
