Established in 2007, the St. Therese National Shrine was consecrated and re-dedicated on May 17, 2007 to promote the spirituality of St. Therese and to enliven the devotion of Military ordinates and their dependents. The church was formerly dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel and was consecrated on December 16, 1983 as a church dedicated to St. Therese of the Child Jesus by Archbishop Bruno Torpigliani, the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines.
The newly constructed shrine is envisioned to be the center of devotion to St. Therese in Asia and is well equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for the comfort of its community. The Narthex, or the lobby, is a wide open area where church goers can freely converge before attending mass. Inside is a wide Column-less church which gives everyone an unobstructed view of the main altar. The magnificent shrine is fully air-conditioned and has a total seating capacity of up to 1,800 people. It also features a Viewing Deck, an enclosed mezzanine where photographers can get beautiful top shots of that unforgettable wedding.
